We are not doing this to avoid taxes. Bartering based on the fair value of the goods and services exchanged is still taxable.

There are probably a million ways two people could come up with a barter trade for services or products. You can review what we do and if you want to make an offer let’s do some bartering. Since we are mostly working remotely outside of the Tulsa area, the preferred method of barter is services that can be rendered online. But we have partners in the Tulsa area where we might implement a 3-way exchange.

What is bartering

Barter is the oldest, a non-cash form of satisfying needs involving the exchange of goods, and later also services, in communities without an economic system. Each party was both a buyer and a seller. The exchange of goods was not limited by the lack of money and the loss of its value in the following periods. The participants of the exchange developed their own procedures of conduct and established equivalents of the exchanged products, taking into account, first of all, their usefulness in the life of a given community. The conducted exchange – initially only between two communities – did not entail any further obligations for either party in any way.

Bartering system examples

There is a theory, popularized by Adam Smith, one of the fathers of modern economics, that barter functioned before money appeared. Those people in the community traded with each other by simply exchanging goods. One was fishing, the other was baking bread, so they traded. Fish for bread. Meanwhile, today anthropologists argue that this type of exchange in primitive communities took place only between strangers – that within one community, people shared goods differently.

Timebank Boulder – is an excellent example of people sharing their services without exchanging any money. You work for someone and accumulate hours in your reserve which later you can use to hire someone to work for you.

Shared Earth – a system set up so that people that want to grow gardens can basically borrow the land from those that have land not being used.

TradeBank – is an online portal where companies and individuals wanting to get involved with bartering can do it in a very professional setting. There is a $495 enrollment fee. What I can see if you can afford the enrollment fee it would be worth it. The system is already organized and they also broker the services.

BizX – business owners and companies use the power of trading their products and services for what they need to grow their business while saving cash flow.

Colorado Currency – provides an online service for members to sell and purchase products and services using their barter dollars. Organized bartering provides an opportunity to pay for what you want and need with the wholesale value of your product or service, rather than using cash flow.

The Barter Company – recognized leader of bartering in the Southeast. They have offices in Georgia and Florida. They provide businesses with an alternative other than paying cash in a network by using barter dollars instead of cash for the exchange of goods and services.

Home Exchange – Forget renting or paying hotel fees Home Exchange allows you to find people willing to exchange homes for your next vacation. It is free to sign up and you only pay $175 annually only if you use their service. Very cheap if you compare the cost of one night in a hotel could be as much. This way you can stay as long as you negotiate the trade, plus you are not charged after the first exchange of the year.

CouchSurfing – stay with people all over the world. Couchsurfing provides a service that connects people to a global community of travelers that share their homes. You can use Couchsurfing to find a place to stay on your global tour or share your home with travelers from other parts of the world. No money is exchanged, there are no charges.
