To do SEO for a website means optimizing your website to get listed on search engines for the best position of keywords that people search for pertaining to your goods or services. In particular, you want a first-page listing of your website for words people use to find your business. The three major search engines people use are Google, Bing, and Yahoo.

This example is a good one because as you can see I chose the name for the business and registered the domain name for the keywords. I would rather it was found for just “Tiffany Lamps” but I came too late and someone else already had it. You should consider the business name carefully on a startup. It should be easy to remember, and secondly, relate to your customer what you are about. Naming your business unique is best. But it can be extremely expensive to get found on the internet in unique branding. If you choose a unique name no one else uses you will be on the first page of search engines. But will there be anyone searching for it without you spending thousands of dollars on advertising?

Through research using Ubersuggest, I found that 4,400 people search for the term “Tiffany Lamps For Sale” every month. It is a long term so there is less competition. The optimization does not stop with domain and site title. The same keywords are used throughout the website so there is no doubt to the search engines we are Tiffany Lamps For Sale.
