Newest Internet Technology

Recent technology has changed the internet. Those who have not changed are no longer listed on the search engines. There was a revolution in design techniques for websites starting with the advent of the mobile phone. As mobile phones became more and more utilized for shopping, websites had to be faster with load time. There were two sides at work making this happen. First, the hardware tech industry started producing faster-operating servers to deliver the content. While in the background coding specialists were fast at work creating new ways to make the content delivered in smaller packet sizes.

No Coding Experience Needed

I am not going to get into the boring details of tech-savvy wording of how all of this was done. I am going to tell you how I have found to deliver an animated modern design website heavy with graphics to a mobile phone in less than 2 seconds. With all the advancements from the coders, we no longer have to know code to create modern, fast, well-structured, and content-rich website designs. There are thousands, probably millions of website templates available for use and many are FREE. All you need to do is replace the content with your unique content and you can have modern design websites up and running in a few hours instead of months.

Fast WordPress Themes

Not all website templates are equal nor are they all search engine friendly, especially for mobile phones. Up until recently, I did not care too much for templates myself. But I found myself digging into code trying everything to make my website faster. Nothing I did seemed to work. So I started searching WordPress themes for speed. There are several on the market which can give you super-fast load time on mobile phones. You can review the real data testing of many of the fastest WordPress themes.

  • GeneratePress
  • Neve
  • Astra
  • Zakra
  • Customify
  • Mesmerize
  • X Theme
  • Blocksy
  • OceanWP

After several months of testing and going back and forth from the old method of piecing together and PHP coding to the template building method, I finally made the change. I had tested the WordPress theme, Neve and others, on several websites. At first, I did not like it for any reason except the speed. As with all things you have to get into it and learn all the back doors to make the design work for you.

Neve WordPress theme and probably others like it are not templates as I had thought of them before. A theme is more a sub-platform of WordPress. It actually allows you to incorporate other templates into the web pages individually or site-wide. It is also set up in a way you can easily insert custom HTML. I ended up purchasing the business version of Neve from themeisle.com. I went from a 16 on Google Page Speed Insights to 70 for mobile and 90 for desktop. These are the results I am now getting.

Modern Design Websites

Modern Design Website Trends

Design trends of websites change considerably from one year to the next. Staying up to date with the latest trend is important to achieve a look that makes your site interesting to customers. But not all trends are for everyone. You need to consider your audience before following any trend updates.

The design of your website reflects upon what your customer thinks of your company or brand. The first impression you want your customers to have is that your site and business or brand are professional. If your website is not modern and updated to the latest design aspects your clients will assume your products follow the same line.

These are some of the latest design aspects that people browsing your website will expect to find.

  • White Space with Large Text and Graphics
This is part of the mobile-first design. The idea is to reduce the content so it can be easily communicated by mobile. This is good if used correctly, mostly for shopping sites that sell to the end-user. But I went around to many of my web design firm competitors’ sites and they were using it in full. Please keep in mind who your target audience is whatever design you use. I do not think the CEO or PR guy of Coca-Cola is going to be using his mobile phone to browse candidates for his next website upgrades.
  • Parallax animation
The main use of parallax allows you to display a full-width image that stays fixed while the text on top of it scrolls up and down. This gives an illusion of a 3D effect to the person browsing the site.
  • 3D – Neumorphism
The goal is to use softer colors and shadows combined to create 3D effects.
  • Black and White
A lot of websites now use only black and white. It is sort of a retro design dating back to the early years of marketing. I see it as more a fad than a trend. There are places you might use it but I would not recommend it for the overall theme of a website
  • Hand-drawn elements and illustrations
This is a perfect example of a fad. People have become tired of browsing the internet and finding all the websites using similar professional-looking designs. It is temporarily eye-catching and breaks the boredom. But as more sites use this technique it will quickly disappear. Everyone is caught up by it now because it is different. But it does not deliver a professional aspect that is needed for a business or brand’s image.
  • Chatbox
The chatbox is great if it is manned all the time by a professional, very few do. For me, it is very annoying to get an AI that says sorry no one is available and I have no idea. Many of these chat boxes now pop up on-site entry blocking content. Better to have a chat button that is manned by someone 24 hours a day that is familiar with the product or service.
  • Video
Video is great for some uses, for example, an educational website. You can even use video now for your animated logo designs. Just be careful, video still takes a lot more time to download than graphics. Using video can seriously affect your page speed and SEO in a bad way.
